OUR NEW NAME
Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance
As of January 31, 2013 the launch of our new name has been implemented on a national level and includes a refresh of the national website, now located at www.afwa.org. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the new name, logo, and other exciting changes found on our various communication platforms. Please check back as we continue to update our website!
Our 2013-2014 year is off to a great start! Outstanding pro-fessional educational programs and opportunities for women professionals to connect in person are some of the benefits of getting involved in AFWA.

We had an excellent presentation at our first meeting from David Grisham, CPA, CFF of Hemming Morse, LLP on construction fraud. If you haven’t been to a meeting lately, I encourage you to come to our next meeting. Reconnect with members and meet new faces. In August, David Rigby, CPA will present “Lean Management Deployment,” and in September we will have Geofry Fong and Becki Roberts with Exchange Bank discuss “Lending Trends and Issues.”
In October we’re planning an exciting Public Relations Dinner to celebrate our new name – “The Accounting and Financial Women’s Alliance” and expand membership. We’re having an exceptional speaker for this big event. John Rinehart, Executive Vice President of Business Operations and Chief Financial Officer of the Sacramento Kings will discuss his role in the recent Sacramento Kings acquisition, the planned arena development and much more.
To expand our chapter membership, we’ll invite women accounting and financial professionals in our community to “find out who we are” and learn more about AFWA. I challenge each member to bring at least one female accounting or financial professional guest to this meeting that has never attended a Sacramento Chapter meeting before. We are shooting for attendance of two and a half times that of a normal meeting, and more if possible - so we’ll need your support to hit that goal. This meeting will be a lot of fun and a great chance for networking. If you would like to add someone to the guest list let us know.
There will be a silent auction to raise general funds to support membership development and programs. We are very excited that we have been promised some Sacramento Kings memorabilia and an autographed item to auction! We are seeking additional donations for the silent auction. If you would like to make a donation or assist with any part of planning the meeting call me.
Make plans now to attend upcoming meetings and especially this exciting, fun event October 10th. Help us grow and strengthen the chapter. Join the fun as we celebrate the achievements and vibrant future of Sacramento AFWA!
