Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

The Sacramento Chapter of ASWA sponsors a VITA site annually and all chapter members and friends are invited to volunteer.  Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) volunteers provide FREE Income Tax Preparation Assistance to low-Income, elderly, disabled and limited English speaking people.

Volunteers get FREE training and certification by the IRS.  This year’s required VITA training class was held on Saturday, January 9th, 2010 and eight hours of CPE is available for all who complete the course.

The 2010 program will operate on Saturdays throughout February and March on the following dates:

January 30th

February 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th

            March 6th, and 13th

The ASWA sponsored VITA program is held at the following location:

Stanford Settlement Neighborhood Center

450 West El Camino Avenue

Sacramento, CA  95833

Volunteers arrive at the Stanford Settlement by 9:45 am and are generally finished by about 2 pm.  There are several types of volunteer positions available at the site, some of which require IRS VITA certification and some of which are open to all volunteers.

If you would like more information on IRS VITA certification, would like to sign-up to volunteer on the VITA Committee, or have any additional questions, please contact Tracy Morse, VITA Committee Chairperson.
