Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

The Sacramento Chapter of ASWA sponsors a VITA site annually and all chapter members and friends are invited to volunteer.  Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) volunteers provide FREE Income Tax Preparation Assistance to low-Income, elderly, disabled and limited English speaking people.  

Volunteers get FREE training and certification by the IRS.  This year’s required VITA training class was held on Saturday, January 9^th, 2010 and eight hours of CPE is available for all who complete the course. 

The 2010 program will operate on Saturdays throughout February and March on the following dates:

January 30^th

February 6^th, 13^th, 20^th, and 27^th

            March 6^th, and 13^th

The ASWA sponsored VITA program is held at the following location:

Stanford Settlement Neighborhood Center

450 West El Camino Avenue

Sacramento, CA  95833

Volunteers arrive at the Stanford Settlement by 9:45 am and are generally finished by about 2 pm.  There are several types of volunteer positions available at the site, some of which require IRS VITA certification and some of which are open to all volunteers.
